Thixo Clear Water Based Self Sealer 1K/2K Topcoat

Novalk 932 is the thixotropic topcoat in the water-based line: heavy-bodied, so it hangs on a vertical door and builds an even film without runs, and self-sealing, so the clear can go straight onto sanded bare wood. As a clear it gives wood a warm, slightly amber cast rather than the cool look of most waterbornes. About 35% solids, 58 g/L VOC. It meets or exceeds KCMA standards for heat and humidity, cold check, chemical resistance and film swell.

Where it fits. Clear-coated cabinetry, furniture and millwork where you want build and coverage from a self-sealer. Our finishers have sprayed it as the everyday clear on stained and natural doors.

Mixing. 1K straight from the can, or 2K with 5% hardener by volume for better mar and chemical resistance:

• NCW-80: about 2 hours of pot life
• NCW-105 long pot life: 3 to 3.5 hours

Application. Apply at 5 to 6 wet mils with surface, product and air above 54°F.

• Airless: 308 or 408 fine-finish tip at 1,600 to 2,100 psi
• HVLP: 5-stage turbine minimum, 1.8 or 2.0 needle, reduce 3 to 10% with warm water
• Brush or roll: add 1034 flow additive, or reduce 10% with water

Interior use. Water clean-up. Sheens 5 (matte) through 90 (gloss); 15 is the sheen most shops standardize on.
