About this product
Novalk 539 is the sanding sealer for the water-based line: a high-solids clear (about 32% by weight) with excellent transparency and strong vertical hang, made to build quickly and sand flat. The Novalk topcoats are self-sealing, so 539 is optional, but on open-grained wood, stained work, or any job where you want a dead-flat base and faster build, a sealer coat first pays for itself in the topcoat.
Where it fits. Under any Novalk water-based topcoat, clear or white, on raw or stained interior wood. Meets or exceeds KCMA standards.
Mixing. 1K straight from the can, or catalyzed for a harder, better-adhered base:
- NCW-80: about 2 hours of pot life
- NCW-105 long pot life: about 3 hours
Application. Apply at 4 to 5 wet mils. Sprays, brushes or rolls; for brush or roll add 1034 flow additive. Touch-dry in 30 minutes, sand and recoat in 2 to 4 hours. Sand with 320-grit before topcoat.
Interior use. Water clean-up. 4 KG.
